Network Services deliver the supporting activities which ensure network capacity, reliability and energy reduction. You will play a key role in the delivery of satellite services in support of internal and external projects and customer demand. You'll be a technical delivery manager to assigned projects covering all elements associated with project delivery. This will cover delivery management of the specification, design, procurement and construction phases. This role ensures we deliver Service and/or infrastructure against the relevant SLA and business needs.
This is executed by: driving deliveries forward; working with teams to help mitigate as and when needed; reporting risks, issues, mitigations, and progress to stakeholders; enhancing delivery capabilities through automation and process evolution; identifying opportunities to reduce cost and enhance the customer experience. Stakeholder management is crucial to the job, and you will produce reports, brief the wider organisation on progress, and ensure suppliers are well informed. You will oversee the end-to-end delivery programme, providing programme management and structured progress communication to stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Supporting the delivery of Specialist platform projects within the satellite community.
- Identifying and implementing ways to improve team, process and service performance and suggesting changes to how the team operates.
- Leveraging technical expertise to monitor actions from scope through delivery, ensuring adherence to the technical roadmap and time and budget constraints.
- Partnering with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues, update on progress and achieve benefits.
- Coordinating a diverse team to deliver medium-sized, technical projects within a specific domain which enable benefits for customers across a portfolio of projects.
- Identifying opportunities to resolve risks and issues relating to delivery and any impacts on related components or teams.
- Ensuring assets are registered in a timely manner.
- Ensuring Legal and Regulatory compliance is maintained and that BT safe working practices are applied.
- Holding regular commercial review meetings with suppliers and internal BT stakeholders to facilitate progress, supplier performance and improvement opportunities.
- Undertaking audits to ensure projects remain on target and within budget.
- Producing regular reports detailing progress and supplier performance against agreed delivery and financial targets.
- Undertaking supplier engagement to resolve unforeseen issues quickly and efficiently, agreeing adjustments to keep projects on track.
- Contributing to supplier selection.
- Providing oversight of activities undertaken by junior or less experienced team members.
- Managing supply contracts.
- Completing or assisting Investment Business Cases.
- Prioritising health and safety in project management plans.
Experience and Qualifications
- Practical knowledge of applying Project & Programme Management Methodology.
- An understanding of finance structures and reporting systems.
- Comfortable developing expertise in emerging technology areas with minimal training.
- An understanding of network monitoring systems and implementation practices.
- Ability to deal with multiple competing suppliers.
- Experience delivering capital and current account programmes of work.
- An awareness of IP networking and building supporting architectures.
- Good stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to effectively manage geographically dispersed people, including matrix management.
- Ability to translate complex issues into simple explanations.
- Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Experience communicating and presenting to Director-level stakeholders on progress, risks and issues of key programs.
- Stakeholder management experience with BT and external partners.
- Delivery management: drive for success against delivery commitments, articulate progress, risks, issues and mitigations.
- Preferred experience: delivering to a business-prioritised workstack, managing conflicts in delivering enablement solutions in a timely manner, and working with internal and external partners to deliver to quality and time requirements.
