OverviewTechnical Director, Town Planner - Major Projects & Consents Lead (Infrastructure Planning) at WSP. Lead and secure new work opportunities for the Infrastructure Planning team in London. This role focuses on leading multi-disciplinary projects under planning regimes and coordinating consent strategies for major infrastructure projects.What you will doLeading consenting inputs on major infrastructure projects (DCOs, DNSs, TWAOs, etc.).Providing technical advice to clients and managing their consenting requirements.Co-ordinating the preparation and submission of consent applications under relevant regimes (Town and Country Planning Acts, Planning Act 2008, or other listed regimes).Acting as Project Director for projects led and managed by the Infrastructure Planning and Engagement business.Leading complex negotiations with statutory bodies and stakeholders on behalf of clients.Maintaining a high degree of technical excellence, which may include acting as Expert Witness at examinations or hearings.Supporting the Service Line and Regional Directors and Sector Leads to pursue new work opportunities in line with WSP’s Growth Strategy.Line management and mentoring of colleagues to support project delivery.What we look forDegree level qualification in town planning (or equivalent).Member of (or eligible for) the RTPI.Strong understanding of project finances.Sound project management experience, ideally within a consultancy environment.Experience in securing consents for major projects under applicable Acts (e.g., Planning Act 2008, TWAO, Electricity Act, Planning Wales Act 2015, Scotland Act).What we offerWork-life balance with hybrid working; flexibility to work from home two days a week and from modern offices across the UK.
