Technical Security Consultant

Up to £50,000 base DOE

Remote/Home-based role with travel to client sites as and when required.

Are you passionate about cybersecurity and eager to take the next step in your career? This could be an opportunity worth exploring! We’re looking for a motivated Technical Security Consultant to join a growing team within a cybersecurity consulting firm, supporting organisations as they design, build, and secure modern IT and cloud environments.

This opportunity is perfect for someone who has up to 3 years of hands-on IT or cloud experience and is eager to build a career in cybersecurity. Exposure to AWS and Azure is important, while previous involvement in security architecture is an advantage, although not essential. You’ll receive guidance, structured training, and mentorship from experienced consultants to help you grow within a people-focused consulting firm.

As part of this role, you will work closely with clients to assess, design, and implement security solutions, including carrying out cloud security reviews to help strengthen their defences and ensure compliance with industry standards. You’ll play a key part in guiding organisations on their security journey while building your own expertise.

What you’ll be doing as the Technical Security Consultant:

  • Delivering technical security support and architecture services across diverse client environments.
  • Assisting in the creation of threat models, risk assessments, and secure design documentation.
  • Helping shape cyber roadmaps and supporting the implementation of security recommendations.
  • Contributing to security assessments, consulting projects, and wider technical teams.
  • Collaborating with clients in a trusted advisor capacity, providing guidance alongside formal deliverables.
  • Continuously improving delivery processes and methods to achieve better outcomes for clients.

What we’re looking for

  • Up to 3 years’ technical experience in IT, cloud, or cybersecurity.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS and Azure required)
  • Understanding of core security concepts: IAM, network security, data protection, secure configurations.
  • Familiarity with frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, CIS Benchmarks, Cyber Essentials.
  • Hands-on knowledge of technologies like:
  • Security tools (SIEM, vulnerability scanners, EDR, cloud-native security services)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical insights into clear recommendations.
  • Exposure to security architecture reviews or design processes.

Desirable certifications

  • CompTIA Security+
  • AWS Security Specialty
  • Azure Security Engineer Associate
  • Other recognised technical or security certifications

This is an opportunity to work across a broad range of industries and technologies, gaining invaluable consulting experience in a supportive environment. Whether you’re currently an IT engineer, analyst, or already in a junior security role, if you’re ready to transition into consulting and client-facing work, we’d love to hear from you.

You’ll not only grow your technical skill set, but also develop into a trusted advisor, shaping secure solutions and helping organisations strengthen their resilience in today’s evolving cyber landscape.
