Technical Services Manager

I am working with a growing General Contractor who are looking to recruit a Technical Services Manager on a permanent basis for projects in North London and East London.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing business who drive their business through organic growth and continuous development.
Role Purpose
You’ll be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of all Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Specialist (MEPS) systems across industrial and data centre projects, from specification and design compliance through to testing, commissioning, and handover.
Key Responsibilities
Subcontractor & Partner Management
* Identify and shortlist potential M&E partners during tender stages.
* Support pre-award selection and evaluate subcontractor performance across quality, safety, programme, and value.
* Act as the escalation point for all MEP issues and drive resolution.
Safety & Quality Leadership
* Champion a strong safety culture and ensure full compliance with all Safety and Environmental Management Systems.
* Oversee quality assurance for all MEP activities and ensure adherence to BCAR and relevant industry standards.
* Conduct regular site inspections and ensure high standards of delivery.
Team Leadership & Development
* Build and resource the M&E team, assigning roles clearly across projects.
* Foster a positive, inclusive working culture and lead by example.
* Coach, mentor, and support the development of team members, ensuring accountability to performance standards.
Commercial & Technical Oversight
* Review tender documents to ensure cost-efficient M&E packages.
* Conduct due diligence on subcontractor scopes and highlight commercial risks.
* Manage escalated variations in collaboration with the QS team.
* Attend key project meetings and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
* Build strong relationships with M&E consultants and key external partners.
* Identify opportunities to expand the client base and support ongoing business development.
* Represent the business professionally through written, verbal, and presentation formats.
Project Delivery
* Track progress of M&E installations, addressing issues promptly.
* Oversee commissioning, demonstrations, and handovers.
* Act as M&E Coordinator when required.
Candidate Requirements
* Third-level qualification in Building Services Engineering, a related degree/diploma, or recognised Mechanical/Electrical trade background.
* Proven track record in delivering projects through to completion.
