Are you passionate about enabling innovation and ensuring operational excellence in technical environments? We’re looking for a Test Service Lead for our client in the Renewable Energy space to oversee the day-to-day operations of a collaborative testing facility supporting large-scale service delivery programmes.
This lab plays a critical role in enabling secure, reliable testing of smart technologies, communications infrastructure, and integrated systems. It supports a wide range of stakeholders including energy suppliers, network operators, device manufacturers, and internal programme teams. Ultimately the Test Service Lead will be instrumental in leading customer-facing testing services, acting as main point of contact for customers testing smart metering devices within their Test Lab.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee daily lab operations, working closely with internal teams and third-party service providers.
- Act as the primary point of contact for lab activities, ensuring services are delivered to agreed standards.
- Support testing programmes, firmware updates, and stakeholder engagement.
- Ensure lab readiness, safety compliance, and optimal utilisation aligned with programme timelines.
- Conduct lab tours, manage queries, and support testing participants on-site.
- Lead reporting, forecasting, and service improvement initiatives.
- Act as Deputy to the Test Lab Services Manager when required.
Qualifications
- Experience in technical operations, service delivery, or test lab support.
- Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to varied audiences.
- Familiarity with testing methodologies and lab environments.
- Understanding of smart metering (SMETS1 vs SMETS2)
- Basic understanding of Health & Safety compliance (or willingness to train).
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.
- On-site availability at the Manchester lab for at least 75% of the working week.

- Salary: up to £55,000 - £61,000
- Hybrid Working: 1 day a week
