Your impact

As a Principal Traffic Signal Engineer, you’ll play a key role in delivering innovative and sustainable solutions across our Aviation, Rail and Technology group. You’ll lead the design and delivery of traffic signal projects, ensuring technical excellence and safety in design. Your leadership will extend beyond project work, as you mentor and support the development of our wider team.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and undertake traffic signal design projects from concept to delivery
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to drive growth and innovation
  • Champion technical quality and safety throughout project lifecycles
  • Manage resources, forecast inputs, and ensure delivery to programme and budget
  • Uphold compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation, aligning with Jacobs’ safety-first culture

What you’ll need

  • Degree in Civil, Electrical, or Transport Engineering (or related field)
  • Experience in designing and reviewing traffic signal schemes from feasibility to implementation
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, LinSig, MOVA, and other traffic modelling tools
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior engineers
  • Skilled in budgeting, resource planning, and programme management
  • Familiarity with health and safety legislation and CDM regulations
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant design standards
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
