About the role:
We are seeking an experienced Training & Competence Officer to join our Financial Planning team. In this role, you will ensure our Financial Planners are competent, confident, and capable of delivering excellent customer outcomes while fully complying with regulatory requirements and Attivo’s internal policies. You will be responsible for supervising, assessing, and coaching Financial Planners, managing training records, and supporting their professional development through our Training & Competence (T&C) Scheme.
About you:
You are organised, detail-oriented, and passionate about developing talent in financial services. You have proven experience in training, competence, or supervision within a regulated environment, and are confident in delivering coaching and training both one-to-one and in groups. You are skilled at building rapport with colleagues and influencing stakeholders, and you are committed to high standards of conduct and customer outcomes.
The successful candidate will need to be office based 2 or 3 days per week, with the option to work remotely the remaining day. We value work-life balance and offer flexible working alongside our hybrid approach.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conduct mandatory observations, including live and recorded meeting reviews, in line with the T&C Scheme.
- Complete periodic competency assessments and validate Financial Planner competency via Competent Adviser Sign-Off forms.
- Prepare, deliver, and review Personal Development Plans (PDPs), maintaining accurate records on HR / T&C systems.
- Conduct Training Needs Analysis (TNA) to identify individual and team development requirements.
- Review CPD records quarterly and highlight any gaps or shortfalls.
- Review and assess Fit & Proper declarations, escalating issues as required.
- Produce quarterly KPI dashboards for senior stakeholders.
- Support the delivery of knowledge, skills, and capability training sessions, both in-person and remotely.
- Provide coaching to support skills development and regulatory compliance.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure smooth delivery of the T&C Programme.
- Ensure timely completion of onboarding T&C activities for new Financial Planners, including competency sign-off and licensing.
Essential skills and experience:
- Minimum Level 4 qualification in Regulated Financial Planning.
- Proven experience in financial services training, competence, or supervision roles.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to analyse information and make evidence-based decisions.
- Confident coaching and training skills, delivered one-to-one, in groups, and remotely.
- Skilled in building rapport and influencing a variety of stakeholders.
- Committed to high standards of conduct and achieving excellent customer outcomes.
Desirable skills and experience:
- Level 3 training and/or supervisory qualification (e.g., AF6, J07).
- Experience using Intelliflo or similar CRM systems.
- Knowledge of retail mortgages.
- Experience supervising pension transfer specialists.
Salary and benefits:
- Up to £55,000, negotiable depending on experience and qualification
