Tasks
We are seeking an experienced Truck Prototype & Test Workshop Lead to provide leadership and drive. As the Truck Prototype & Test Workshop Lead, you will:
- Act as the interface between engineering and production teams, leading issue resolution from build to customer handover.
- Ensure trucks are built correctly and are fit-for-purpose for testing or shipping.
- Coordinate and resolve truck issues with engineering and production teams.
- Support and work independently to solve truck issues.
- Manage reworks on trucks, adhering to project timelines, quality, and costs.
- Perform physical reworks or outsource when necessary.
- Own the prototype workshop budget, stock, assets, and safety policies.
- Assist with truck testing, including data logging and test day support at UTAC, Millbrook.
- Provide feedback on truck design improvements.
- Work with suppliers on parts fabrication and manage related logistics.
- Perform other tasks as directed by your Team Lead.
Requirements
What you bring
- Proven supervisory/leadership experience in automotive, manufacturing, engineering, or workshop environments.
- Strong understanding of fabrication techniques and automotive systems.
- Practical experience in fabrication, welding, and electrical works.
- Ability to inspect and control quality.
- Ability to interpret CAD data and drawings.
- High voltage safety awareness; HV training preferred.
- Excellent communication and relationship skills.
- Resilience, organization, and ability to manage pressure.
- Critical thinking, problem-solving, and continuous improvement skills.
- Full UK driving license with access to own vehicle; C1 license preferred.
