Tasks

We are seeking an experienced Truck Prototype & Test Workshop Lead to provide leadership and drive. As the Truck Prototype & Test Workshop Lead, you will:

• Act as the interface between engineering and production teams, leading issue resolution from build to customer handover.
• Ensure trucks are built correctly and are fit-for-purpose for testing or shipping.
• Coordinate and resolve truck issues with engineering and production teams.
• Support and work independently to solve truck issues.
• Manage reworks on trucks, adhering to project timelines, quality, and costs.
• Perform physical reworks or outsource when necessary.
• Own the prototype workshop budget, stock, assets, and safety policies.
• Assist with truck testing, including data logging and test day support at UTAC, Millbrook.
• Provide feedback on truck design improvements.
• Work with suppliers on parts fabrication and manage related logistics.
• Perform other tasks as directed by your Team Lead.

Requirements

What you bring

• Proven supervisory/leadership experience in automotive, manufacturing, engineering, or workshop environments.
• Strong understanding of fabrication techniques and automotive systems.
• Practical experience in fabrication, welding, and electrical works.
• Ability to inspect and control quality.
• Ability to interpret CAD data and drawings.
• High voltage safety awareness; HV training preferred.
• Excellent communication and relationship skills.
• Resilience, organization, and ability to manage pressure.
• Critical thinking, problem-solving, and continuous improvement skills.
• Full UK driving license with access to own vehicle; C1 license preferred.
