Base pay range
Fairfax Multi-Academy Trust is a family of four schools around Birmingham with a commitment to breaking down barriers and enriching lives. The Trust now seeks a Communications and Engagement Lead to deliver a brand-new strategy and transform the way it communicates.
Key Responsibilities
- Creating and reviewing an effective communications strategy for the Trust and leading on its successful delivery.
- Writing, developing and editing copy, using flair and imagination to turn factual information into compelling copy tailored to a variety of target audiences and in line with house style.
- Ensuring a coherent and consistent approach is applied to all communications, branding and messages.
- Managing the Trust’s intranet effectively, using a content management system to maintain the quality and integrity of web content.
- Managing, maintaining and updating all Trust websites, posting engaging content and monitoring wider engagement.
- Identifying PR opportunities and managing media relations, drafting statements to influence coverage.
- Managing the Trust’s social media channels, regularly posting and maintaining conversations.
- Proactively engaging with partners, researching prospective partners, and acting as the first point of contact for partner enquiries.
- Effectively managing financial resources and leading on the cost-benefit analysis of communications activities.
- Providing guidance and support for direct parental communications.
Skills and Experience
- Degree or equivalent work experience in a similar role.
- Experience working with both digital and print communications with the ability to create content for the web, print and social media.
- Excellent copywriting skills and an innate flair for creating stories, likely with a background in journalism or media.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to interact with people at all levels.
- Experience of website management and good knowledge of IT systems, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Self‑motivated and proactive with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
- Flexible and adaptable to change and able to work under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude.
- A commitment to the ethos, vision and values of the Trust, with experience working in the education sector desirable.

Location
Centrally based in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, with regular visits to the Trust’s four academies. Hybrid and flexible working opportunities are available.
