We are recruiting passionate Trustees to help shape our future, strengthen governance, and improve access to mental health support across Wales.
What difference will you make?
Operationally we are a small team of 5 part‑time staff with a number of volunteers. We want to expand our services in order to work toward financial sustainability and we believe this post is essential in this success.
What are we looking for?
- Qualified Therapist
- NCPS/BACP/UKCP registered
- Experience of developing services would be beneficial

Join Our Board – Trustee | YCS Counselling, Cardiff
Are you passionate about improving access to mental health support? YCS Counselling is seeking new Trustees to strengthen our Board and help guide the charity through its next stage of growth.
About Us
YCS Counselling was founded to improve access to psychological therapies for underrepresented groups. Based in Cardiff, we provide face‑to‑face and online counselling services across Wales. As a Charity we ensure all funds are invested to ensure those who face barriers to accessing support can receive affordable, high‑quality counselling.
The Role of Trustee
As a Trustee, you will play a vital role in the governance and strategic direction of YCS. Working alongside fellow Trustees and the Director, you will
- Ensure the charity is well governed, sustainable, and mission‑driven
- Support financial oversight and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
- Contribute your expertise to help develop services and partnerships
- Champion the values of accessibility, diversity, and well‑being in mental health provision
Who We’re Looking For
We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and lived experiences, particularly those underrepresented in governance. We are especially interested in individuals with skills in one or more of the following areas:
- Accountancy, fundraising, or business development
- Administration of Charities
- Marketing, communications, or stakeholder engagement
- Counselling, psychotherapy, safeguarding or mental health services
Most importantly, you will bring commitment, curiosity, and compassion to your role.
Time Commitment
Trustees are expected to attend quarterly Board meetings (currently held in Cardiff, with hybrid options) and contribute to occasional sub‑groups or strategic discussions. The role is voluntary, though reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
