What You'll Do

The role of the UI Designer, Sky News is fundamentally the creative execution of design work across multiple projects and focuses around three core areas:

Creative Delivery

  • Support the Senior and Lead UI designer in shaping the day-to-day delivery and visionary experience for Sky News products, ensuring it's in line with wider product and brand strategy.
  • Demonstrate a knowledge and desire to investigate, innovate and develop emerging design, UI and technology trends
  • An ability to come up with innovative ideas, solve problems creatively and shape these into logical, coherent solutions that centre around our customer's needs.
  • Help to maintain an efficient design delivery process, through regular clear communication with delivery teams and consistently delivering to schedule.

Relationships & Networks

  • Communicates design solutions and rationale with group product stakeholders to build support and agreement.
  • Represent the UI design team and advocate the value of user-centred design practices with stakeholder groups across the business, and externally when required

Teams & Collaborations

  • Help drive our creative culture by being a highly visible advocate for all things design
  • Collaborate with design and development teams in order to create new experiences and evolve patterns

What you'll bring

  • Demonstrate an ability to come up with innovative ideas, solve problems creatively and shape these into logical, coherent solutions that centre around our customer's needs.
  • Shown via a portfolio review at application.
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills in order to convey complex design concepts clearly to different delivery skill sets within the business
  • Solid understanding of visual and user-centred design, and how best practices apply to various platforms and devices.
  • Attention to detail, striving to deliver pixel perfect designs, that deliver.
  • A keen interest in current trends in design and communications and help translate them into relevant design experiences.
  • Experience of designing with accessibility in mind and meeting WCAG 2.1 level AA.
  • Contribute to the consistency of Sky's brand guidelines, principles, templates and assets
  • Proficient with the latest tools and applications such as Figma and Adobe Creative Suite
