UI/UX Director

Studio: A stealth mode AAA developer/publisher. Renowned for creating exceptional gaming experiences, the studio is currently working on its first major title, a fully funded AAA project already several years into development, with several years remaining until release.
Location: Remote
Project: AAA open-world action-adventure co-op game to be released on all next-gen platforms
Responsibilities
Define and own the UI/UX direction for the entire game, including HUDs, front-end interfaces, navigation tools, codices, and diegetic elements.
Collaborate with narrative, design, and art leadership to ensure the interface supports player immersion, lore delivery, and gameplay clarity.
Work with gameplay, quest/world design, progression, and economy teams to seamlessly embed UI/UX into the core player experience.
Coordinate with the Art Director and creative marketing teams to ensure visual cohesion across product and brand identity.
Build, manage, and mentor a distributed UI/UX team, encouraging strong cross-functional relationships and clear communication.
Establish pipelines and production workflows that maintain creative ambition while respecting delivery timelines and technical constraints.
Advocate for intuitive, accessible design at every level, making deep systems approachable through clean, thoughtful interface work.
Lead the design and review of user research goals, interpret player feedback, and apply insights to refine the player experience.
Contribute directly to the integration of UI/UX features within Unreal Engine, setting a high standard for implementation quality.
Collaborate with engineering and tech art to create scalable pipelines for interface development.
Skills & Experience
Prior experience as a UI/UX Director, Lead, or Senior Designer on at least one shipped AAA title.
A strong portfolio demonstrating interface leadership, visual design skills, and user experience excellence in complex game systems.
Proficiency in Unreal Engine’s UI systems and workflows.
Strong design foundation across typography, layout, iconography, and interaction design.
Experience embedding accessibility principles and inclusive design practices into live projects.
Clear and confident communicator, capable of uniting technical, creative, and production teams behind a shared vision.
Passion for creating elegant, functional, and immersive user experiences that complement both gameplay and worldbuilding.
