Base Location: Oxford, Salisbury, Andover and surrounding areas. This role is mobile and predominantly field-based, and your base home location should be within a 30 minute commuting distance of the listed depots.

Salary: £34,749 - £40,939 plus a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

  • 37 hour working week.
  • Up to £4,442 overtime payments and up to £3,820 standby payments, giving potential of up to £8,262 extra per year (subject to qualifications).
  • Full PPE and tools required for the position.
  • Access to a company vehicle.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time

We are looking for fully qualified Arborist/chargehands to join our busy team. In these roles you will work as part of a cyclical tree cutting programme and on more reactive, customer-focused work. As a leader within the team, you will help us manage trees and vegetation around our distribution network. Safety is at the forefront of all activities at SSE, and you will work with your team to evaluate, prepare, and carry out tree cutting works on a variety of sites and voltages.

You have

  • Previous experience in forestry, arboriculture or a closely related field.
  • Relevant NPTC certificate units for chainsaw use, and a qualification including NPTC UA1/2.
  • Enthusiasm and drive, with a flexible approach to work and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Experience of working with power lines; climbing would be highly advantageous.
  • High regard for safety; embedding yourself in our safety culture and adhering to guidelines is a key priority.

Travel is required and applicants must hold a current driving licence.
