Your Role And Responsibilities
We are seeking a seasoned Senior UX Designer with a strong background in our industry-specific software solutions to lead our design process, focusing on user-centered design methodologies and ensuring seamless integration with our clients' existing workflows within the public sector. The ideal candidate will collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams to deliver unparalleled user experiences and contribute to the development of design systems and style guides.
Key Responsibilities
- Spearhead the design process from inception to launch, guiding your team through user-centered design workflows in a public sector context.
- Develop comprehensive design systems and style guides to maintain consistency and scalability across products, aligning with Government Digital Service (GDS) standards.
- Conduct thorough user research, usability testing, and data analysis to inform and refine design decisions, applying User-Centered Design (UCD) principles.
- Partner effectively with developers, product managers, and stakeholders to implement design solutions, ensuring alignment with GDS guidelines.
- Act as a mentor to junior designers, offering guidance and constructive criticism on their work.

Required Technical And Professional Expertise
- A robust portfolio showcasing a diverse range of UX design projects, preferably within the public sector.
- Proficiency in design tools such as Sketch, Figma, or Adobe XD.
- Deep understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies, with specific experience in UCD teams.
- Proven capability to craft user-centric designs that tackle intricate challenges and enhance user experiences in a public sector setting.
- Superb communication and collaboration skills, with experience in stakeholder management.
- Demonstrated experience working in agile development environments within the public sector.
- Proficiency in user-centered design principles and methodologies, including UX Design Thinking and User Journey Mapping.
- Experience in planning and executing user research, including interviews, surveys, and usability tests, aligned with GDS standards.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret research findings and formulate actionable recommendations, in line with GDS guidelines.
- Adeptness in organizing and structuring content and information to maximize usability and findability, adhering to GDS principles.
- Experience in creating site maps, wireframes, and information architecture diagrams, consistent with GDS standards.
- Proficiency in developing wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs for digital interfaces, meeting GDS accessibility requirements.

Preferred Technical And Professional Experience
- Experience with front-end development languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
- Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG), particularly as they apply to public sector digital services.
- Familiarity with design systems and pattern libraries, with direct experience in a public sector context.
- Academic or professional background in Human-Computer Interaction or a related discipline, with relevance to the public sector.
- Experience with user research methodologies and data visualization tools, specifically relevant to UCD teams in the public sector.
- GDS compliance knowledge and understanding of User-Centered Design (UCD) principles.
