SAM UK is a small Company within the global business, requiring resilient financial management, with Finance playing a pivotal role in the operations of the business and the delivery of its strategic objectives. This is a senior position within the business, sits on the SAM UK Operating Forum, and is expected to support the COO in implementing and delivering the wider business strategy.
The role leads the Finance function and manages an Assistant Management Accountant, being ultimately accountable for the whole finance function and related processes, controls, submissions and policies, including having oversight of the outsourced financial accounting service provider and tax teams.
The difference you’ll make:
You will manage the statutory accounts, systems and process improvements, preparation of ad hoc and statutory reporting requirements, plus review of regulatory reporting. The role ensures the accurate and timely delivery of the finance function requirements to the broader business.
- Looking after the production of the management accounts and related reporting with analysis as required by SAM UK senior managers, the wider SAM Group and Santander UK, delivered to deadlines
- Controlling the spend vs budget throughout the financial cycle and ensuring cost budgets are met
- Supporting the COO in the annual budgeting, 3-year planning processes, preparation and audit of annual statutory accounts, including liaising with Gesban, auditors and the wider business as required
- Preparing regulatory returns with support from the COO and ownership of other reporting requirements (such as ONS surveys)
- Owning the relationship with the outsourced accounting shared service provider (Gesban) to facilitate month-end close, audit work and other activities they support with
- Owning the relationship with the SAM Global Finance team based in Madrid
- Preparing the Transfer Pricing review with support from the COO
What you’ll bring:
- Prior experience of working in a corporate environment, preferably in Asset Management or financial services
- An eagerness to collaborate with colleagues across all areas of the UK business
- Qualified Accountant or equivalent
- Capability to be an active leader within the business
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Highly numerate, attention to detail and ability to manage work to meet deadlines
It would also be nice for you to have:
- Experience of SAP accounting package is preferable
- Experience of working in a multicurrency environment
- Experience in a leadership role and managing multiple stakeholders
What else you need to know:
This role will be based in our office in either Glasgow or London.
We want our people to thrive at work and home and also be able to deliver the best outcomes for our end clients and to help each other develop. To support this, we offer site-based contracts with a hybrid working pattern and our expected level of attendance in an office is at least 12 days per month (pro-rata for part-time roles) including attending every Monday and Thursday.
