Job Description

Are you a Deaf, disabled, or neurodivergent playwright with leadership ambitions? This is your chance to shape the future of new writing while learning how a national touring company operates from the inside.

As Vital Xposure places playwrights and new writing at the heart of our artistic mission, the Literary Associate will work closely with the Artistic Director to develop and deliver our bold, inclusive programme, particularly our groundbreaking Wellspring Commissions residency for Disabled, Deaf, and Neurodivergent playwrights.

This role is perfect for an emerging artist with experience in playwriting, dramaturgy, literary management, or directing new work.

Whether you have self-produced your own projects or supported other writers' development, you will gain invaluable insight into how a touring company champions disabled voices and transforms the theatre landscape.

If you see yourself leading an organisation in the next decade, this is essential preparation for that journey.

The role will be based at our office in Deptford, London, with hybrid working arrangements: one day at the office (currently this is Wednesdays), two days remotely.

Contract type: 12 month fixed term / part time: 0.6 F/T equivalent

Applications open: Tuesday 7th October 2025

Interviews: Thursday 20th November 2025

If you would like to have an informal conversation about the role with the Artistic Director, 1:1 conversations can be arranged in the week commencing 20th October 2025.

We create a safe, inclusive and collaborative environment in all our productions, where artists feel supported through their own professional and creative journey with us.
