West Kent Radio has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Sales Executive/Account Manager.

As a Sales Executive for West Kent Radio, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the station’s sustainability and growth, enabling it to continue providing valuable services to the local community. Your efforts in securing sales will directly support essential programs, including community outreach, volunteer development, and the acquisition of new equipment, enhancing the station’s ability to engage and inform listeners. By successfully engaging in building relationships and overall exposure with our advertisers and sponsors, you will help maintain West Kent Radio’s position as a vital resource for the people of Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells, and the surrounding areas.

What are we looking for?

Are you a dynamic and proactive sales professional who understands the power of local media. You’ll be responsible for creating long-term partnerships with local businesses, helping them achieve visibility, engagement and return on investment through advertising and sponsorship on West Kent Radio. Key Responsibilities Lead Generation & Prospecting Identify and approach local businesses who could benefit from radio advertising and sponsorship Build and maintain a healthy pipeline of prospective clients across Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells, and surrounding villages Sales & Account Management Create bespoke advertising and sponsorship packages tailored to client needs and budgets Present and sell effective radio campaigns across on-air, online, and event-based platforms Manage the sales process from first contact to deal close, including proposal writing and contract negotiation Provide excellent after-sales care and account management to encourage repeat business and referrals Campaign Coordination Work closely with the station’s creative and production teams to ensure smooth delivery of advertising content Brief clients on the production process and coordinate approvals Reporting & Administration Maintain accurate records using CRM or agreed systems Prepare weekly or monthly sales reports for internal stakeholders Track and manage revenue against sales targets Experience and Skills Required To be successful in this role, you should ideally have Professional Experience At least 3 years’ experience in a client-facing sales, advertising, or media account management role Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets Experience selling media campaigns (radio, digital, print, or outdoor) is highly desirable Previous experience working with SMEs, local traders, or community-focused businesses is a major plus Sales Acumen A natural ability to spot commercial opportunities and tailor offers to suit client needs Excellent negotiation and closing skills Creative flair in crafting advertising solutions that resonate with local audiences Highly motivated and target-driven

What will you be doing?

West Kent Radio has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Sales Executive/Account Managerbased locally. You will be responsible for developing, maintaining and selling to a client base of local businesses based in Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells, Southborough and surrounding villages.Generating leads, making appointments, presenting great radio campaigns and selling the benefitsof radio to local businesses.You need to be hard working, be able to work both independently and with teams, great at negotiating and closing sales, ideally in the radio or print media sector.You will report to the Treasurer at West Kent Community Radio and liaise with our chosencommercial production agency for script production and client approval. You will be comfortable working with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, receiving training on our chosen CRM.WORK PLANThe sales executive will work a combination of telephone calls, email and visiting potential clientswith the expectation that the sales executive would work primarily from home, however some travel to our main station would be expected.A professional presentation is required at all time when discussing and meeting clients and with bothtrustees and volunteers from West Kent Community Radio.
