Water Treatment Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven individual to take on the role of Project Engineer, focusing on pre-mobilisation, design coordination, and project delivery.

Legionella risk assessments & compliance

  • Conduct comprehensive Legionella risk assessments in line with ACoP L8, HSG274 and relevant British Standards
  • Produce clear, accurate and detailed written reports for clients, with recommendations for remedial actions
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of clients' water systems and develop tailored control schemes

Water treatment & remedial works

  • Carry out routine water monitoring and sampling (temperature checks, dip slides, pH, conductivity, etc.)
  • Perform chlorination and disinfection of water systems, tanks, and pipework in accordance with BS 8558
  • Implement minor plumbing remedials (dead leg removals, TMV servicing, tank inspections and cleanings)
  • Conduct closed system analysis and dosing as required

Technical & customer service

  • Liaise with clients, providing professional advice and updates on compliance and performance
  • Maintain service records and logbooks in accordance with contract requirements and legislation
  • Identify opportunities to improve water system efficiency and safety for the client

Requirements

  • City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in Water Treatment, Plumbing, Mechanical Engineering, or Environmental Science
  • Legionella Risk Assessment qualification (e.g., City & Guilds accredited or similar)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in water treatment and water hygiene services
  • Proven experience conducting Legionella Risk Assessments in accordance with ACOP L8 and HSG274
  • Experience carrying out routine monitoring, cleaning, disinfections, and sampling of domestic hot and cold water systems
  • Comfortable working in a range of environments, including healthcare, education, commercial, and industrial sites
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance, including Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations, ACOP L8, HSG274, and BS 8558
  • Understanding of closed system treatment (e.g., heating/cooling circuits) and basic BMS awareness
