Are you passionate about digital innovation and eager to shape the online presence of a prestigious institution? We are seeking a Web and Social Media Manager to join Birkbeck, University of London, to lead the team responsible for our web and social media content for the next year ahead.
This role is pivotal in driving student recruitment and enhancing Birkbeck's reputation through strategic management of our website and social media channels. It is offered on a fixed-term, maternity cover contract at full-time for 35 hours a week, with one day a week in the office, and a salary of £51,713 per year.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the architecture, functionality and content of Birkbeck's website as well as our social channels, and graphic design work.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance user engagement and drive student recruitment.
- Manage a team of eight, including Web Product Manager, Social Media Officer and Content Editors.
- Ensure digital content meets accessibility standards and is optimised for SEO.
- Collaborate with senior management to align web strategies with University's goals.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Extensive experience managing websites in complex organisations and working with a broad range of staff to ensure they meet user and organisational needs.
- Strong knowledge of CMS, HTML, SEO, and digital content marketing.
- Experience of commissioning, creating, producing and advising on copy, video, photography and infographics.
- Experienced people manager with proven ability to lead and manage a team.
- Excellent organisation and project management skills, and the ability to lead and develop a content management strategy.
Salary and benefits
£51,713 rising to £60,858 per annum, Grade 8 of the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated Weighting Allowance that applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the London area.
Contract
Fixed-term Maternity cover contract. Full-time (35 hours a week). Flexible and hybrid with at least one day a week on site (Tuesday).
