About us
The Francis Crick Institute is Europe’s largest biomedical research institute under one roof. Our world-class scientists and staff collaborate on vital research to help prevent, diagnose and treat illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, infectious diseases and neurodegenerative conditions.
The Crick is a place for collaboration, innovation and exploration across many disciplines. A space where the brightest minds can pursue big and bold ideas and discover answers to crucial scientific questions. We support them in a dynamic environment which fosters excellence with state-of-the-art infrastructure, cutting-edge facilities, and a creative and curious culture. We’ve removed traditional boundaries of departments, divisions and disciplines and instead have an open approach that supports every researcher. This gives us the freedom to take risks and carry out high-quality, pioneering research. Creating a space for discovery without boundaries helps us to turn our science into benefits for human health and the economy.
About the role
At the Francis Crick Institute, we know that our people are at the heart of everything we do. We’re now looking for a dedicated and passionate Wellbeing Manager to join us in shaping a workplace where every member of staff and every PhD student can thrive.
This is an exciting opportunity to take strategic and operational ownership of our wellbeing approach, making it proactive, inclusive, and evidence based. You’ll be at the forefront of embedding wellbeing into the Crick experience, ensuring that physical, mental, and emotional health are supported in meaningful and practical ways across the organisation.
Working collaboratively, you’ll design and deliver a holistic wellbeing strategy, lead and inspire our network of mental health first aiders, and act as the institute’s source of best practice on wellbeing. With your expertise and vision, you’ll bring people together, build momentum, and ensure that wellbeing is not only supported but fully integrated into how we work and grow together at the Crick.
What you will be doing
As Wellbeing Manager at the Crick, you will:
- Lead the development and implementation of wellbeing initiatives and projects within the Crick
- Review, drive and coordinate the work of the Health and Wellbeing Steering Group and its sub-groups, ensuring delivery of agreed initiatives, cross-functional collaboration, and regular impact reporting
- Develop and maintain a dynamic wellbeing events calendar, ensuring events are well-resourced, inclusive, evidence-informed, and effectively communicated to maximise engagement
- Coordinate the Mental Health First Aider (MHFA) network, including recruitment, training, communications, peer support, and recognition, ensuring they are a visible and supported part of the Crick’s wellbeing framework
- Design, commission, and deliver wellbeing-related training and development, including manager capability building, resilience training, mental health awareness, and tailored content to meet emerging organisational needs
- Collect, analyse, and present wellbeing management information, providing regular (monthly and quarterly) updates to the Executive Committee and Steering Group on trends, outcomes, risks, and opportunities
- Act as an ambassador and subject matter expert on workplace wellbeing, both internally and externally—contributing to policy development, staff communications, and organisational learning
