New Today
Salary: £70,200 per annum
Location: London SE1
We are now seeking a 12-month FTC CIC Lead who will divide their time between two core responsibilities. First, the role will provide leadership for the day-to-day operations and long-term development of the CIC, including securing additional funding and investment into the WHNI CIC as well as coordinating internal governance and external partnerships. Second, the role will provide strategic development and oversight of the ‘Anchor Offer’, working closely with community partners to lead co-design of inclusive services, build capacity, and ensure community voice shapes the WHNI CIC’s investment portfolio. The role is expected to transfer to the WHNI CIC after the initial 12 months, becoming a permanent position pending successful setup of the CIC and continued funding. Social Finance are committed to ensuring a smooth transition and will work closely with the successful candidate to provide clarity and support as CIC’s capacity develops to enable this transition.
The Team
The West Hertfordshire Neighbourhood Integrator Community Interest Company (WHNI CIC) is a Company Limited by Guarantee, with Social Finance Ltd as the sole member. Its purpose is to support the health and wellbeing of people living in West Hertfordshire. It has been developed in partnership between Social Finance, Macmillan Cancer Support (Macmillan), West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and West Herts Hospitals Charity. Macmillan have also committed to provide the WHNI CIC with social investment and additional grant funding to develop and support its work.
Our Vision for Community Transformation Funds
It is a shocking fact that compared to white people; black women are 3 times more likely to die during pregnancy or within a year after childbirth; black people are twice as likely to have a stroke; 3.5 times more likely to have hypertension; and African-Caribbean men are 3 times more likely to develop prostate cancer and have significantly worse outcomes.
Together with our strategic partners; Macmillan Cancer Support and the Caribbean African Health Network (CAHN), our vision is to end health inequalities and wider disparities minoritised communities in a generation. By doing so, we will achieve equitable care for all. This requires systemic change and a radical new approach to how health transformation is funded, designed and delivered. One of the main ways we will do this is by incubating Community Transformation Funds (CTFs), which will create a radical new approach to how health transformation is funded, designed and delivered at a place-based level. In addressing the deep inequity experienced by racialised communities, CTFs will establish a new platform that will drive a systemic change across all health inequalities.
West Hertfordshire and Lincolnshire are the first vanguard CTFs (incorporated as Community Interest Companies) and represent a first major milestone as part of Macmillan and Social Finance’s long-term impact strategy.
