Widening Access Officer

University of the West of England is seeking a Widening Access Officer to support the recruitment of students to the University through the design, coordination and delivery of a portfolio of targeted and progressive widening access activities.

Responsibilities

  • Design, coordinate and deliver widening access activities for potential students.
  • Visit schools and colleges to deliver engaging activities.
  • Plan a calendar of activities with schools and colleges.
  • Manage enquiries and shape provision to meet demand.
  • Allocate and undertake administrative tasks as required.
  • Work flexibly outside regular hours to support events such as open days, taster days and recruitment fairs.

Qualifications

  • Ability to develop and deliver engaging activities to young people via online platforms and in face‑to‑face contexts.
  • Proactive administration of an activity schedule to achieve the team’s goals.
  • Excellent relationship‑building skills with schools and colleges.
  • Strong team‑working and interpersonal skills.

Location

Frenchay campus, Bristol.

Contract

Full‑time, fixed term until August 2026, 37 hours per week. Job share option available. Campus based with the possibility to work from home on some days.

Other

Enhanced DBS clearance required. Salary offers will be made in line with the University’s salary assessment guidelines and will be based on relevant skills and experience.
