Young Person's Advisor

We are looking for full-time Young Person’s Advisors to join our growing Care Leaver Service.

Posts available are: x1 Full-Time Permanent and x2 Full-Time Temporary Until November 2026.

WHAT IS INVOLVED?
This is a really rewarding job where you will play a key role in helping young people who are leaving care to:

The service also has its own care leaver hubs and part of your role will be to occasionally work from that hub supporting young people to develop social and emotional skills and life skills, delivering group sessions and participating in celebratory events with young people.

WHAT WILL I NEED?
To be able to apply to become a YPA you should have a level 3 qualification in a relevant children’s services field, and significant experience of direct work with young people in a social care, health, education, housing or youth and community setting.

You should be able to communicate well with young people, forming positive and effective working relationships, and to network, negotiate and advocate on behalf of young people to achieve positive outcomes.

HYBRID WORKING

Durham County Council currently operates a hybrid working policy where a model of 2 days in the workplace and 3 days at home/remote will apply. This model is pro-rated for part time roles and arrangements are at managers discretion, alternatively you can work all of your contracted hours within the workplace if you prefer.

INTERVIEWS
Interviews will be held on 15th August 2025, which will also include a Young People’s panel.
