2026 Graduate Programme - Energy - Transition. We are looking for graduates for our Energy Transition team within WSP, a leading Engineering and Professional Advisory services consultancy. You will work in a collaborative environment on a diverse range of clients and projects, with a flexible approach and appetite to learn in energy transition from thermal to renewable energy.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate
You’ll have graduated with at least a 2:2 in a master’s degree in a relevant subject for the role you are applying for. To assist you in finding potential areas of the business that are relevant to you, please visit our Graduate brochure or Graduate website.
- Candidates must complete the application form in full answering all specific questions. This applies to all candidates. Successful completion of this stage is mandatory.
- Online skill enabler assessment is part of the recruitment process.
- Start date: April or September 2026.
- You’ll be passionate about consulting and have a desire for structural engineering and design.
- Creativity, problem-solving, collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, and adaptability to dynamic project environments.

Responsibilities and day-to-day activities
Day-to-day activities may include:
- Developing mechanical deliverables such as pipeline routing, piping design, CCGT specification, steam systems, and carbon capture integration.
- Developing process layouts and reviewing UK and international standards for compliant designs.
- Assisting in proposal development and contributing to project concepts through to constructed plants.
- Interacting with clients, attending site visits, and conducting site inspections of assets and developments.
- Static and dynamic analyses of structures; design of structures (steel and concrete); preparation of project documentation, drawings, specifications, and 3D models.
- Provision of long-term operational management support and other services as part of multi-disciplinary teams.
Energy Transition and Renewable Power Generation
Our Energy Transition team delivers multi-disciplinary services to support a net zero future, spanning thermal transition to renewable energy. In Thermal Transition, graduates contribute to projects involving wind and solar developments, carbon capture, battery storage, energy distribution, and decarbonisation across electricity generation, gas transmission, hydrogen and CCS.
Our Renewable Power Generation team specialises in Offshore Wind, Onshore Wind, Onshore Solar, and Battery Storage, with activities across design, delivery, client engagement, and sector growth.
- Projects include carbon capture integration on existing plants, green hydrogen production, new CCGT plants, gas network upgrades, pipeline routing studies, electrical and gas distribution design, sub-station design and inspection, solar PV and battery storage projects.
Graduate Development Programme
Our two-year Graduate Development programme supports personal and professional growth through blended learning, core business and professional skills training, networking, mentoring for professional registration, and on-the-job experience. Graduates may join the WSP ICE Training Agreement and pursue chartered status through our Energy ICE Training Group. Graduates are encouraged to take responsibility in projects to progress within WSP.
