Overview
The University of London Worldwide is responsible for the development and delivery of our distance learning programmes and is seeking to appoint two Academic Services Manager (12 month FTC - maternity cover) to join the Online Education Directorate.
You will be a confident and charismatic professional who can manage relationships with key personnel at federation member partners. With oversight of a portfolio, you will gain insights into how various academic programmes are performing and work with the programme teams to ensure these programmes are functioning well and meeting their potential to provide a high quality student experience.
A good communicator, you will facilitate between academic and operational teams and work with colleagues to resolve issues swiftly and efficiently. You will be proactive and consider the wider implications and risks of decisions that might impact programmes in your portfolio. You will have a good understanding of the importance of quality assurance and will draft and publish key programme documentation (for example, Programme Regulations, Programme Annual Monitoring Reports). You will be aware of how current and developing issues in Higher Education (such as the OfS Conditions of Registration and the QAA UK Quality Code) impact programme policies.
Working in an established team, you will be provided with support but must also be able to manage your own portfolio independently and be prepared to lead mini projects to scope out new activities to improve performance. This will also feed into work relating to the design and development of new programmes and products.
Responsibilities
- Manage relationships with federation member partners and oversee a defined portfolio of programmes.
- Monitor programme performance and collaborate with programme teams to ensure high quality delivery and student experience.
- Facilitate collaboration between academic and operational teams; resolve issues swiftly and efficiently.
- Draft and publish key programme documentation (e.g., Programme Regulations, Programme Annual Monitoring Reports).
- Apply knowledge of higher education quality frameworks (OfS Conditions of Registration, QAA UK Quality Code) to policy development.
- Independently manage a portfolio and lead mini projects to scope new activities and improvements; contribute to the design and development of new programmes and products.
Qualifications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work across academic and operational teams.
- Proactive and risk-aware, with the ability to consider broader implications of decisions.
- Understanding of quality assurance in higher education and related regulatory frameworks.
- Ability to work independently within a team and lead small projects.
