What you'll be doing

We are seeking an Accounts Assistant to join our team at the Newhaven Energy Recovery Facility. This vital role supports the financial operations of the South Downs Contract, reporting to the Financial Controller.

  • Review monthly management accounts for HWRS sites, Composting Facility, Haulage & Overheads
  • Assist with annual budget process
  • Process purchase orders and payments
  • Review contract tonnages and reconcile disposal charges
  • Support month-end processes and audit preparations
  • Provide Workday system support to operational teams
  • Prepare trial balances and balance sheet certifications
  • Liaise with suppliers on invoice and payment queries

What we are looking for

  • Essential: Strong Excel/Google Sheets proficiency
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills
  • Currently studying towards an accounting qualification
  • Workday experience preferred
  • Previous experience in Haulage/Environmental waste services is advantageous
