Overview

Join to apply for the Applications Engineer role at Xona Space Systems. Xona is the navigational intelligence company bringing real-time, centimeter-level certainty to any device, anywhere on Earth. With Pulsar – the world’s most advanced PNT satellite infrastructure in Low Earth Orbit – Xona offers a future-proof, backwards-compatible global positioning system optimized for absolute precision, power efficiency, and robust protection.

Xona is seeking an Applications Engineer to join our growing UK team. You will develop early customer relationships, participate in field trials, and bridge the gap between external users and internal engineering teams. You will collaborate with our navigation and software engineers and play a leading role in test planning and customer demonstrations. You will work closely with the product and business teams, supporting external customers and partners in their Pulsar developments. A front-facing role with a strong technical foundation is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as UK point of contact for early customers and users. Own and manage UK customer relationships, support technical development and trials, and provide ongoing customer support.
  • Support hands-on product demonstrations and trials. Plan, execute, and evaluate field trials for our PNT services, delivering real-world value to early users.
  • Support simulation and development activities. Engage with customers and partners to ensure they have what they need for integration and testing of the Xona Pulsar signal; assist or lead simulation work as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of BS / BEng in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace, or related field and at least 3 years of experience in an industry related to Position, Navigation and Timing (PNT).
  • Familiarity with hardware simulation, RF lab testing, system-level verification testing, hardware-in-the-loop testing, data processing, and field testing.
  • Familiarity with GNSS receivers and GNSS Interface Control Documents (ICD) and data/file formats such as RINEX navigation and observation files, SP3, NMEA, and related formats.
  • Excellent communications skills and experience working in customer support on commercial products and services.
  • Must have the right to work in the UK; sponsorship is not available.

Desirable But Not Essential

  • Basic knowledge of GNSS positioning equipment and/or experience with GNSS simulators and receiver testing.
  • Experience in a technical support role.
  • Experience with Python or C++ (OOP is advantageous).
  • Familiarity with Git version control and the Git workflow.

Benefits

  • Flexible working and PTO/time off policy; progress measured by results, not clock time.
  • Remote and hybrid working options.
  • Supportive parental leave.
