Overview

Assistant Audit Manager role at Forvis Mazars in the UK. The team is focused on Public Sector Audit, delivering independent audits to local authorities, central government departments, NHS bodies, and other publicly funded organisations. Responsibilities

  • Lead Audits – Take ownership of audits for local government, NHS, and central bodies, delivering accurate, compliant and high-quality work.
  • Build Relationships – Develop strong client connections, acting as a primary contact to resolve queries and support billing.
  • Ensure Excellence – Oversee audit delivery to agreed timescales, ensuring standards, procedures and quality expectations are met.
  • Coach & Collaborate – Mentor and support audit assistants and seniors, reviewing work and guiding fieldwork.

What You'll Bring

  • Professional Qualification – ACA / ACCA / CA (or equivalent).
  • Sector Experience – Auditing publicly funded bodies such as local authorities, central government departments, NHS trusts, and related organisations.
  • Leadership Experience – Ability to lead external audits, supervise and coach junior staff.
  • Technical Knowledge – Strong understanding of UK GAAP (FRS 102), IFRS, and the Companies Act.
  • Stakeholder Engagement – Competent in managing client communications and delivering timely, high-quality audit services.
