Your New Role, What’s Involved

As an Associate Fire Engineer, you’ll typically be working on a variety of projects at once from a University in Scotland to a high-rise residential tower in London, with plenty of international projects. All with the same goal of enabling innovative architectural design without compromising on the fire safety of the building.

You’ll be running through design information, liaising with other WSP disciplines such as Facades, Acoustics and Structures, presenting designs to local authorities and the Fire Service, and helping to inform the design team about what changes could be made to increase the safety of the building.

There is a lot to learn and you are likely to be guided through a variation of software packages, fire standards, team briefings and client updates from the start. We are a friendly team and regularly get together for social events. We will assist the successful candidate toward professional registration via IFE and other professional organisations.

Qualifications

At WSP, we have multiple opportunities for our fire engineers to grow via a bespoke programme designed to provide professional skills and specialist technical development opportunities. The programme is supported by our senior leadership team and is tailored to give you the support, guidance and development opportunities you need to work towards chartered status or equivalent professional qualifications. The structured programme includes but is not limited to training in:

We’d love to hear from you if you have

You will have a BSc (BEng) or MSc (MEng) in Fire, Structural, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Must have extensive experience within the fire engineering consulting industry. This role can be based from any of our UK major offices.
