We are seeking risk managers who have worked on large-scale/complex construction or infrastructure projects in a risk role. This role requires 3 days of travel per week between our client's offices in Kings Cross and Peterborough.
You'll be responsible for:
- Accountable for the risk management performance on assigned commissions.
- Creating and designing effective risk management frameworks and strategies.
- Managing and directing clients, consultants, contractors, and project teams on all risk management matters.
- Building strong professional relationships with client organizations as a trusted advisor.
- Acting as the risk management subject matter expert on projects, programs, or portfolios.
- Managing and delivering quantitative risk analysis (cost and time).
- Advising on contingency adequacy during regular reporting cycles.
- Ensuring all activities comply with Mace control standards, client requirements, and legislation.
- Providing line management to junior risk managers and project staff.
- Mentoring team members for personal and career development.
- Innovating and aligning with industry best practices for service excellence.
- Leading a high-performing risk team on assigned projects.
- Supporting resourcing and recruitment efforts.
- Contributing to net zero carbon transition efforts by identifying and managing carbon emissions and reductions.
Qualifications and experience required include:
- At least 10 years of experience or equivalent as a risk management leader on major construction projects.
- Significant experience leading risk on large construction projects.
- Proven ability to establish risk management frameworks and strategies.
- Expertise in risk tools and software such as Active Risk Manager, Risk Hive, @risk, Primavera Risk Analyser.
- Knowledge of planning tools like P6, Astra, MS Project.
- Practical knowledge of Power BI and reporting tools.
- Deep understanding of construction project lifecycle and interfaces.
- Experience providing risk leadership across multiple sectors like rail, highways, nuclear, public sector, hospitals.
Additional skills include:
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to influence and collaborate with others.
- Effective communication of complex ideas to non-technical audiences.
- Experience managing stakeholders up to C-Suite level.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
