The Department is a longstanding, award-winning Projects team advising private sector clients and Government across energy, transport and infrastructure. It is integrated across UK offices with global connections, offering opportunities to work on renowned transactions and regulatory work in core sectors and promising exposure to work in other jurisdictions.

The Team On Transport and Infrastructure matters, the team combines deep expertise with market knowledge across rail, airports, health, education, roads, bridges and tunnels, prisons, public buildings, housing, water, wastewater, waste, defence and telecoms projects. The team advises on public sector and government work, energy, and infrastructure matters, including net zero initiatives, and has experience on project finance, PPPs and major reforms. Clients include a mix of private and public sector organisations and government departments.

The Role

  • Lawyers with an inquisitive mind who want intellectual challenge and impact on projects that can make headlines and contribute to infrastructure growth.
  • Deal with a variety of private and public sector clients on transactions mainly in the UK and Ireland, with some international opportunities.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of risk (legal and commercial) and solid contractual skills; comfortable taking on new contractual challenges.
  • Be a problem solver, assessing where risk sits and guiding parties to a favourable outcome.
  • Develop client relationships and participate in business development, with potential to establish a personal practice and progress to Senior Associate/Counsel or Partner.
  • Benefit from secondment opportunities within the team and with London, Ireland and Middle Eastern offices.
  • Role may be office or hybrid-based; fully remote consideration considered for suitably experienced candidates.

Technical Skills

  • Outstanding academic record.
  • Ability to work independently and absorb/draft detailed contractual documentation.
  • Projects experience across infrastructure/transport and/or energy; project finance and PPP experience welcomed.
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to work effectively within a large team.
  • Rail experience is preferable.

  • 4+ years PQE.
