About the Role

The SS&C Strategic Platform Services team is looking for an Engineer to join our DevOps delivery team and “maximise product flow” in a financially regulated environment. You will ensure our team’s ongoing success by translating the strategy and designs of the wider teams into reality, by automating the implementation of the underlying infrastructure (and its support) and application code.

As a key member of the team, you will help drive the direction of our shared services platform, particularly the technologies supporting it, and enable the developers to focus on delivering great product features to our clients.

Your Responsibilities

• Stay up to date with industry best practices and innovation.
• Support project work and software releases with our team of product owners, architects, and developers, including updates to QA/Production environments.
• Identify failure patterns and resolve problems at their root.
• Provide high-performance cloud deployment solutions, maintain rapid deployment pipelines, server monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Implement best practices for platform security.
• Test system integrity alongside the DevOps team.
• Design and implement build, deployment, and configuration management processes.
• Develop automation tools for infrastructure provisioning.
• Monitor metrics and suggest improvements.
• Provide technical guidance and training to team members.
• Maintain configuration standards and manage day-to-day project administration.
• Oversee our Continuous Deployment pipeline.
• Document and update various processes.

Technologies include Java Spring Boot, Microsoft .NET, AWS Cloud services, and third-party tools such as EC2, ECS, RDS, S3, Cloudfront, WAF, API Gateway, Lambda, Elasticache, Elasticsearch, SQS, SNS, EKS, Jenkins, GitHub, Python, Terraform, Ansible, Packer, Hashicorp Vault, Kafka, ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ, Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, Alertmanager, Qualys, FireEye, and Sophos.

Your Experience:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or 5+ years of relevant work experience.
• At least 3 years of industry experience.
• Minimum 1 year of AWS experience in a business environment.
• Over 3 years in a DevOps role.
• At least 2 years operating a production platform and working with Kubernetes.
• Solid understanding of Linux, Windows, and Networking layers.
• Experience working in an agile environment.
• Strong desire for continuous learning and quick skill application.

Desirable skills include microservices development, SQL and NoSQL databases, familiarity with Apache tools, JSON, XML, YAML, Python, Java, and experience in a financially regulated environment.
