Azure Architect DXC are looking for an experienced Azure Architect to lead the design and delivery of secure, scalable, and resilient cloud solutions for UK government clients. You will work across multiple public sector projects – shaping cloud strategies, defining architectures, and guiding technical delivery in compliance with government security and governance standards. You will collaborate closely with client stakeholders, solution architects, and engineering teams to deliver high-value Azure solutions that support digital transformation and public service innovation. Key Responsibilities Solution Architecture & Design Design and implement Azure-based solutions that meet client and government standards for performance, security, and compliance. Produce detailed architecture artefacts (HLDs, LLDs, design blueprints, deployment guides). Lead cloud migration and modernisation initiatives, including re-platforming and refactoring legacy systems. Governance & Compliance Implement Azure governance frameworks including Azure Policy and RBAC. Security & Operations Design secure architectures integrating Entra ID, Key Vault, Managed Identities, and network security controls (NSGs, ASGs, Private Link). Collaborate with cyber and risk teams to enforce security baselines, monitoring, and incident response processes. Develop DR, HA, and continuity of service strategies aligned with client SLAs. Client Engagement & Leadership Serve as a trusted technical advisor to government clients. Lead architecture workshops, discovery sessions, and technical presentations. Work alongside delivery teams to ensure design integrity through implementation. Provide mentoring and guidance to junior architects and cloud engineers. DevOps & Automation Drive Infrastructure as Code (IaC) adoption using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates. Support automation through Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, and CI/CD pipelines. Advocate cloud-native practices, observability, and cost optimisation. Required Qualifications Proven experience as an Azure Architect, ideally within a consulting or IT services environment. Extensive hands‑on experience with Microsoft Azure, covering compute, networking, storage, identity, and monitoring services. Deep understanding of Azure security, networking, and hybrid connectivity (VPN, ExpressRoute, Private Endpoints). Strong knowledge of cloud governance, FinOps, and automation frameworks. Eligible for SC (Security Check) or higher UK government security clearance. Preferred Qualifications Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert. Familiarity with government assurance frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus, NIST). Strong background in DevOps, IaC, and containerisation (AKS, Docker, GitOps). Excellent communication and documentation skills, with experience presenting to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
