We currently have an opportunity for an Azure Data Architect to join our team based in Exeter or Bristol or Redhill on a Permanent Full time basis. Salary: £70,000 plus benefits.

Role: The Data Architect is responsible for defining and driving the Pennon Group's data architecture to meet business objectives, ensuring governance and security standards. Using Microsoft Azure’s data platform capabilities, you will design and implement scalable, secure data solutions that enable data-driven decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement data solutions on Azure, using services such as Azure SQL Database, Data Factory, Data Lake Store, Data Lake Analytics, Stream Analytics, Azure Storage, Cosmos DB and more.
  • Make informed decisions on the strategic direction and roadmap for cloud platforms and DevOps methodologies.
  • Design scalable data models, metadata systems, and data catalogues aligned with business objectives.
  • Optimize performance and resolve issues to ensure data accessibility and responsiveness.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to project teams on data architecture and management of the full data product lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with solution architects, enterprise architects, and business teams to align technical solutions with organisational goals.
  • Define and drive Pennon Group data architecture across the group (including Pennon, South West Water, Bournemouth Water, Bristol Water, SES Water, Pennon Power and Pennon Water Services).

What we are looking for

  • Proven experience as a Data Architect or similar role.
  • In-depth understanding of database structure principles.
  • Experience with Azure data technologies (Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Azure Cosmos DB, Power BI, SQL).
  • BSc in Computer Science, IT or a relevant field.
