Job Title: Business Data Analyst

Contract Type: 6-Month Contract (Inside IR35)

Location: Hybrid – London (2-3 days on-site per week)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Business Data Analyst to join our client on a 6-month contract basis. You will play a key role in bridging the gap between business needs and data engineering, delivering insightful analysis and driving data-driven decision-making. This is a hybrid role requiring regular presence in the London office and falls Inside IR35.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with business stakeholders to gather, understand, and translate business requirements into technical specifications.
• Document business processes, data flows, and data requirements across multiple functions.
• Collaborate with data engineers and developers to ensure data solutions align with business objectives.
• Conduct detailed data analysis and profiling from Azure Data Lake and other sources to identify trends, issues, and opportunities.
• Define and manage business metrics and KPIs, producing reports and dashboards as required.
• Support the development and testing of data pipelines, reports, and analytics platforms.
• Identify and help resolve data quality issues across systems and sources.
• Act as a key liaison between IT, Data Engineering, and Business Teams.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a Business Analyst or Data Analyst in complex, data-driven environments.
• Strong understanding of data management, data architecture, and data governance.
• Proficient in querying and manipulating data using Python and/or SQL.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Data Lake (ADLS) and related Microsoft Azure services (e.g., Data Factory, Synapse).
• Experience working with large-scale Data Lakes and distributed data platforms.
• Strong analytical thinking with the ability to translate business problems into data solutions.
• Excellent documentation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Comfortable working in Agile and hybrid team environments.

Desirable Skills

• Familiarity with data modeling concepts and tools.
• Experience with BI/reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
• Exposure to financial services, retail, or another regulated industry.

Additional Information

• IR35 Status: This role is Inside IR35 – payments will be subject to PAYE or via an umbrella company.
• Working Pattern: Hybrid working – 2 to 3 days per week required in the London office.
• Contract Length: 6 months, with potential for extension.
