About You

  • A degree and a relevant postgraduate qualification in Water/Catchment Management, River Processes or a related field.
  • Experience conducting environmental surveys and using data to drive evidence‑based solutions for rivers, wetlands and catchment systems.
  • Leadership experience managing multidisciplinary projects and teams.
  • Proficiency in GIS, Excel and familiarity with VBA, Python or other relevant software would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of the Water Framework Directive (WFD) and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) principles.
  • Valid driving licence and willingness to travel across the UK and occasionally overseas.
  • Strong communication, report‑writing and presentation skills.
  • Collaborative mindset, high motivation and a commitment to technical excellence.

Your Role

  • Support the delivery of a wide range of catchment science projects with a focus on nature‑based solutions and multi‑benefit outcomes.
  • Lead projects and teams, ensuring multidisciplinary solutions are delivered on time and to specification.
  • Collaborate with AtkinsRéalis specialists to design river and wetland restoration, Biodiversity Net Gain projects, river realignments and WFD compliance assessments.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to consistently deliver the best environmental options.
  • Work effectively within a large consultancy, integrating environmental, engineering, planning and ecological expertise.
  • Operate with a flexible, proactive, hands‑on approach in a commercial environment.
  • Maintain independent working capabilities while contributing to a broader team effort.
