A degree and a relevant postgraduate qualification in Water/Catchment Management, River Processes or a related field. Experience conducting environmental surveys and using data to drive evidence‑based solutions for rivers, wetlands and catchment systems. Leadership experience managing multidisciplinary projects and teams. Proficiency in GIS, Excel and familiarity with VBA, Python or other relevant software would be advantageous. Knowledge of the Water Framework Directive (WFD) and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) principles. Valid driving licence and willingness to travel across the UK and occasionally overseas. Strong communication, report‑writing and presentation skills. Collaborative mindset, high motivation and a commitment to technical excellence.
Your Role
Support the delivery of a wide range of catchment science projects with a focus on nature‑based solutions and multi‑benefit outcomes. Lead projects and teams, ensuring multidisciplinary solutions are delivered on time and to specification. Collaborate with AtkinsRéalis specialists to design river and wetland restoration, Biodiversity Net Gain projects, river realignments and WFD compliance assessments. Engage with internal and external stakeholders to consistently deliver the best environmental options. Work effectively within a large consultancy, integrating environmental, engineering, planning and ecological expertise. Operate with a flexible, proactive, hands‑on approach in a commercial environment. Maintain independent working capabilities while contributing to a broader team effort.
