We’re looking for a packaging Category Buyer to join our team. The role will be based out of our Tring HQ and sit within our Global Sourcing Team, part of the wider operations function that manages Huel’s entire supply chain. This is your chance to make a real impact, driving meaningful change and adding value from day one.

What you’ll do

  • Strategic sourcing – Build and deliver sourcing strategies that support Huel’s global goals, leading the tendering process for your categories.
  • Commercial impact – Negotiate competitive costs for packaging and merchandise, always looking for opportunities to deliver savings and value.
  • Packaging quality – Lead improvements in packaging performance to support both our third-party manufacturers and our Milton Keynes factory, tackling issues and reducing complaints to keep operations smooth and customers happy.
  • Cross-functional collaboration – Partner with teams across NPD, Technical, Marketing, Sustainability, Production and Planning to identify opportunities and drive improvements.
  • Sustainability focus – Ensure packaging meets Huel’s sustainability and ethics standards while staying compliant with current and upcoming legislation across markets.
  • Technical expertise – Build knowledge with suppliers and provide expert support on packaging-related queries from internal teams and co-manufacturing partners.
  • Supplier performance – Set and track quarterly KPIs to evaluate supplier performance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Problem-solving – Collaborate with Technical to resolve packaging non-conformances and ensure corrective actions to prevent repeats.
  • Regulatory compliance – Stay on top of packaging regulations (UK, EU, US, and Asia) and lead projects to remain compliant.

What we’re looking for in you

  • Ideally 1–2 years+ experience in buying or procurement within a food manufacturing or FMCG environment (what matters most is fit and potential).
  • Commercially minded – strong commercial acumen and a passion for sustainability.
  • Brand proud – enthusiastic about Huel and our products, able to represent us confidently with suppliers.
  • Curious and technical – eager to dig into product details and build technical know-how.
  • Flexible and adaptable – able to thrive in a fast-moving environment where priorities shift.
  • Proactive and detail-focused – take initiative, spot opportunities, and ensure small details are right.
  • A great communicator – build strong relationships and manage expectations with colleagues and suppliers.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity – take ownership and make things happen even without perfect clarity.
  • Analytical – comfortable working with data, with strong skills in Google Sheets or similar.
