To provide specialist psychological assessment for adults in primary care step 4 utilising a range of self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client's care. To provide specialist psychological therapy for individuals and groups based upon an appropriate psychological conceptual framework of their difficulties and employing methods of proven efficacy.

Main duties of the job

To provide specialist psychological assessment for adults in primary care step 4 utilising a range of self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client's care. To provide specialist psychological therapy for individuals and groups based upon an appropriate psychological conceptual framework of their difficulties and employing methods of proven efficacy. To evaluate and make autonomous decisions about intervention options, including discharge, ensuring such decisions appropriately involve others providing care. To communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner, information concerning the assessment, formulation and intervention plans of clients and to monitor and evaluate progress during the course of both uni- and multi-disciplinary care. To provide specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to clients' care plans. To undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual clients and to provide general advice to other professionals on psychological aspects of risk assessment and management.

Job responsibilities

Salary: £64,445 - £74,896 per annum, (NHS AFC Band 8b). Based: NHS Northumberland Talking Therapies, 4 Telford Court, Morpeth NE61 2DB (hybrid working between home and across sites). Hours: 37.5 Hours per week. Contract Type: Permanent.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Qualified as a High Intensity Therapist for a minimum of 1 year
  • OR
  • Qualified as a CBT Therapist for a minimum of 1 year And Be accreditable with BABCP as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist

Experience

  • Demonstrable in-depth knowledge of stepped care and NHS Talking Therapies, learnt through experience of working in an NHS Talking Therapies service.
  • Experience of working with a variety of client groups, presenting with a range co-morbid depression and anxiety disorders
  • Able to maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems.
  • Experience of providing NICE and NHS Talking Therapies compliant clinical supervision.
  • Experience of writing psychological assessment and discharge reports
