Role Overview: A Cloud Environments & Release Manager is required for our higher education client to take end-to-end ownership of their Oracle Fusion ERP environments, ensuring quarterly updates, environment refreshes and release activities are planned, tested and executed effectively. This role falls under the clients specific ERP implementation programme, supporting programme delivery and establishing robust environment and release management processes.

Essential Skills & Experience

Previous experience as a Cloud and Environments Release Manager, with hands-on experience managing Oracle Fusion Cloud or similar SaaS ERP platforms.

• Strong understanding of quarterly patching, environment refreshes, and release planning.
• Familiarity with integration flows and testing (preferably Boomi).
• Understanding of RBAC, audit, and compliance requirements.
• Excellent stakeholder communication and vendor management skills.

Also to have the ability to build strong relationships across Service Design and Transition, Testing, and Platform Engineering teams.

Responsibilities

As the Cloud and Environments Release Manager you will:

• Partner closely with the Programme Director and technical leads to plan and manage all ERP environment activities.
• Coordinate environment refreshes, testing cycles, and patch updates aligned to programme timelines.
• Build a repeatable playbook for BAU release and patch management.
• Develop strong working relationships with:
• Service Design and Transition – to ensure smooth handover to BAU.
• Testing Teams – to coordinate regression and integration testing cycles.
• Platform Engineering Team (Head of Platform Engineering) – to align on integration flows, security, and environment dependencies.

Environment & Release Management

• Own the schedule and coordination of Oracle Fusion quarterly patches across DEV, TEST, PRE-PROD, and PROD.
• Plan environment refreshes and cloning activities in line with business priorities.
• Ensure downtime notifications, risk assessments, and stakeholder communications are issued for all updates.

Testing & Coordination

• Engage functional owners to ensure UAT and regression testing are executed effectively.
• Maintain regression packs to minimise business risk post-patch.
• Track and coordinate defect management with Deloitte and Oracle.

Governance & Compliance

• Ensure all environment changes are tracked, documented, and auditable.
• Support quarterly security reviews and access governance activities.
• Prepare evidence for internal and external audits.

Vendor & Partner Liaison

• Act as the main contact for Oracle support SRs, coordinating escalations when required.
• Liaise with the system integrator and internal IT stakeholders for resolution of release or environment issues.
• Continuous Improvement

• Recommend process, automation, and tooling improvements to make releases smoother and more predictable.
• Monitor Oracle’s roadmap to anticipate new functionality and support adoption planning.

Deliverables

• Robust environment and release management playbook for Oracle Fusion.
• Quarterly patch and release schedules with clear testing and communication plans.
• Regression packs and readiness checklists to support BAU stability.

Seamless transition from Programme to BAU with embedded processes and documentation.
