Job Description
Entain's Commercial Legal Team advises on all aspects of our business, balancing legal, regulatory and commercial risks and designing, implementing, and negotiating supplier agreements and commercial arrangements. This in-house role is suited to an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual keen to develop a legal career in-house, with an interest in sport and online gaming.
Principal duties include overseeing contractual matters with existing and future suppliers, participating in RFP and due diligence reviews of suppliers, providing commercial and regulatory counsel on key strategic initiatives, day-to-day advice, resolving issues in existing and new games commercial relationships, assisting on licensing matters and handling pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries. The successful candidate will have a strong regulatory and transactional background and apply sound, pragmatic judgement in a dynamic environment.
This role is a fixed term maternity cover of 12 months.
Responsibilities
- Structuring, negotiating and drafting simple and complex commercial agreements (including marketing, technology, and licence agreements).
- Serving as lead counsel and directly advising business clients on strategic deals.
- Advising senior stakeholders on the launch of new products and managing all legal aspects (including identifying and mitigating potential risks).
- Advising on the commercial implications of existing contractual obligations.
- Resolving issues that arise in existing commercial relationships and handling pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries.
- Serving as a key subject matter expert and strategic advisor regarding legal obligations.
- Assisting in the development and management of risk protection programmes across the company.
- Proactively monitoring and reviewing legislation to ensure accurate and up-to-date inventories of all legal obligations.
- Building strong relationships with key stakeholders and becoming immersed in all aspects of the group’s offering.
Qualifications
- England & Wales or Gibraltar-qualified lawyer with at least 5 years PQE.
- Substantial free drafting and negotiating ability.
- An interest in gambling regulations and the gambling industry; previous industry experience not essential.
- Ability to work independently while contributing successfully to cross-functional teams.
- Enthusiastic about taking ownership of projects and proactively involved in all legal aspects from start to finish.
- Keen to make a positive impact on the business and continuously looking for ways to improve processes.
- Thrives in a large team but is also comfortable working alone on smaller projects.
- Pro-active and driven attitude with the ability to liaise with and advise senior management.
- Able to problem solve quickly by making reasoned judgements balancing risks.
- Excellent attention to detail and prioritisation skills with a proven ability to meet demanding deadlines.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced and highly regulated environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong analytical and computer skills.
