We are looking for a Compliance Monitoring Officer to join INSHUR. We’re based in Brighton and operate a hybrid working model, allowing you to thrive in both collaborative office settings and the comfort of your own home. You’ll have the opportunity to work remotely while also connecting with colleagues in the Brighton office once a week, fostering a dynamic and supportive environment.
Supported by (and reporting to) the Head of Compliance, you’ll join a friendly compliance team that believes a strong culture of compliance goes beyond adhering to rules and regulations and must be integrated with everything we do. How we conduct ourselves is as critical to INSHUR’s success as making the best products available to our customers.
What you'll do
As a Compliance Monitoring Officer, you will support the business by ensuring INSHUR adheres to legal and regulatory obligations as a regulated Insurance intermediary and Managing General Agent (MGA)/Coverholder. You will play a key role in supporting our compliance strategy and maintaining high-quality service for stakeholders.
A Compliance Monitoring Officer at INSHUR collaborates with all levels of the organisation to provide compliant, business-sensitive solutions in a variety of areas, including:
- Compliance monitoring: Carrying out regular monitoring activities to assess adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies, reporting findings, and ensuring remedial actions are implemented
- Frameworks, policies and procedures: supporting the development and implementation of compliance frameworks and policies
- Compliance support: support in the orderly running of activities and products to ensure that they adhere to all applicable guidelines and regulations
- Providing advice: to the insurance, claims and marketing teams on compliance requirements
- Assisting: in preparing MI and reports as and when necessary
- Other: regulatory and compliance requirements as required

…these essentials to thrive in the role;
- Compliance monitoring expertise: proven experience in conducting and reporting on compliance monitoring activities, with the ability to identify gaps, escalate issues, and advise remedial actions
- Relevant experience: Have worked independently or unsupervised in a similar Compliance role with personal and commercial lines insurance products - Motor, Breakdown, Home, Medical or Business insurance
- Working knowledge: of all insurance related areas of the FCA handbook inc the Consumer Duty
- Collaborative: strong team ethic and ability to build and sustain strong working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders

- Understanding: of wholesale and retail insurance business and the risks which attach to these products
- Experience of corporate risk and compliance requirements: in a business scenario with particular reference to insurance start-ups and/or digital verticals or Knowledge of and interest in the insurtech environment

What to expect from the process
Screen & Intro: 30-minute video call with the Talent Team to discuss the role and your experience
First Interview: 60-minute video call with the Head of Compliance & one other relevant senior employee to delve into the role, including technical questions and an opportunity for you to ask questions
Case Study: A brief take-home task followed by a 45-60 minute in-person interview with the Head of Compliance, and People Partner to review the case study and assess team fit
