Consultant Town Planner – Birmingham, UKAECOM is hiring a Consultant Town Planner to join our UK Town Planning team. This role offers diverse, challenging work across energy transition, rail and water sectors, with a hybrid working option from multiple offices including Birmingham and other UK locations.What you’ll doProject Delivery: Assisting in the management and successful delivery of major development applications, coordinating multi-disciplinary teams across project types, and supporting project management with quality and health & safety practices.Planning Advice: Providing planning guidance to colleagues and clients, including consenting routes and the application of permitted development rights; liaising with the Environmental Impact Assessment team.Research & Analysis: Carrying out planning research and analysis and helping identify planning risks.Documentation & Reporting: Writing Planning Statements and Design and Access Statements for development applications.Collaboration & Business Development: Contributing to successful commercial tenders and participating in internal and external meetings.Where you’ll be basedBased from our offices in Basingstoke, Birmingham, Bristol, Chesterfield, Leeds, London Aldgate, Manchester, Nottingham or Plymouth, with an option for hybrid working.About our teamAECOM’s Town Planning team delivers major infrastructure and development projects. We are a global environment and engineering consultancy with a large planning capability and a culture that values equity, diversity and inclusion.QualificationsLicentiate Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or an equivalent professional town planning organisation, and working towards full accreditation.Sound knowledge of UK planning policy and legislation; understanding of Environmental Impact Assessment legislation.Demonstrable experience of working on major planning applications and/or Development Consent Orders; experience in collaborative, multi-disciplinary teams.Commercial awareness; ability to write clearly and concisely; client-focused with strong interpersonal and collaborative skills; ability to work to tight deadlines; ability to identify, evaluate and manage planning risk.Additional informationWe offer hybrid work options and a range of compensation, benefits and well-being programs.
