Overview

The Environment Agency strategy is to protect and enhance nature and leave the nation’s natural environment in a better state than we inherited it. Defra Group Fleet Services (DGFS) leads the fleet transition to achieve net‑zero goals. This role is an exciting opportunity to work with a team of fleet specialists to support delivery of ambition fleet targets and drive tangible change.

As a member of the Contracts, Performance & Risk Team you will work with contract managers overseeing the full lifecycle of contracts, working with suppliers to reduce environmental footprints, maintain cost–effective fleets, and deliver our legal and health & safety responsibilities. Excellent relationship management, influencing, and communication skills are critical.

Responsibilities

  • Develop contract strategy, including procurement and award processes.
  • Lead tender processes and manage contract awards.
  • Oversee contracts through the lifecycle, ensuring supplier performance meets agreed standards.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the organisation to identify business needs and deliver solutions.
  • Respond to incidents and support incident training and engagement.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Skill in influencing and persuading stakeholders.
  • Forward‑thinking mindset with the ability to identify opportunities and risks.
  • Experience of procurement processes within Defra is desirable.

Role Specific License Requirements

Full UK Driving Licence.

Location & Working Patterns

Flexible national role. You may need to work in EA offices and attend national meetings, with occasional overnight stays. full‑time position; other work patterns will be considered.
