Responsibilities

  • Undertaking Fraud and Bribery Risk Assessments – working with senior managers to understand the controls in place to mitigate fraud and bribery, testing their effectiveness, highlighting gaps, and scoring residual risk.
  • Policy reviews – reviewing clients' policies for fraud or bribery risks and ensuring suitable controls are listed to reduce offences and support disciplinary action if needed.
  • Liaison with senior staff – reporting to the Director of Finance or Chief Financial Officer; producing and presenting annual workplans, progress reports and annual reports to the Audit Committee.
  • Delivering training – preparing and presenting informative training sessions to clients’ staff, from inductions for new starters to targeted sessions for finance, HR or procurement staff, or informing Boards on related requirements.
  • Undertaking proactive exercises – conducting deep-dives into identified fraud risk areas to test controls, identify any fraud, and strengthen procedures.
  • Receipt of fraud referrals – handling complaints related to fraud, bribery or corruption; working with the organisation’s reporting channels to ensure clear lines of reporting.
  • Receiving referrals of fraud, bribery or other offences, identifying estimated loss/gain, lines of enquiry and proportionality of investigation.
  • Submitting information requests under the Data Protection Act for evidence; liaising with witnesses to gather evidence and take statements.
  • Undertaking interviews under caution and preparing case papers for the CPS; recognising when sanctions may not be proportionate and recommending internal or regulatory actions.
  • Making recommendations to prevent recurrence; collaborating with NHSCFA Financial Investigators to conduct financial enquiries and obtain evidence.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Be able to pass enhanced security vetting (NPPV + SC) and DBS clearance.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex, sensitive information to staff, clients and stakeholders.
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to produce high-quality reports for varied audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage a varied workload and calendar, ensuring high-quality client service.
  • Ability to work unsupervised, use initiative and strive to exceed client expectations.
