Job Title: Credit Controller

Location: Colchester office. Hours: Full time – Monday to Friday 9am-5.30pm.

Purpose of the role:

As a Credit Controller, you will be responsible for managing your own ledger and supporting the effective collection of outstanding debts across Affinia. You will build on a solid understanding of accounts receivable processes, aged debt reporting and credit risk, combining technical expertise with relationship management to ensure prompt and professional credit control.

Working with limited supervision, you will communicate effectively with clients and colleagues, identify and escalate risks, and actively participate in workstreams that add value to the credit control function. You are expected to uphold Affinia’s RIALTO values, develop knowledge of service lines and key contacts, and act as a role model for junior members of the team. You will be supported in undertaking CICM study and other training as directed, mentor junior colleagues, provide guidance, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and high-quality service.

Key Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Proactively manage customer accounts to ensure timely payments, supporting the company’s cash flow and financial health.
  • Chase overdue debts professionally and negotiate payment plans to maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Produce regular reports on aged debt, cash flow, and payment trends to inform management decisions.
  • Resolve billing queries quickly and efficiently, ensuring a positive experience for customers.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and relevant legal regulations.
  • Continuously identify and implement improvements to credit control processes, driving efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Regular meetings with portfolio managers; some travel to the office location is expected.

Skills / Qualifications:

Essential: GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English, proven numeracy skills, and experience using Microsoft Excel/Office and accounting or ERP systems.

Desirable: CICM Level 3 Diploma in Credit & Collections (or actively studying), with demonstrable experience of managing ledgers, credit risk and client relationships within a finance or credit control environment.
