Overview

CTO / Technical Co-Founder - ClimateTech SaaS (Equity Only). Hybrid - UK (Preferred) / Europe.

A mission-driven ClimateTech startup is seeking a technical co-founder to lead development of an AI-powered SaaS platform revolutionizing biomethane production. We’re targeting a 30% increase in renewable gas output, 20% OPEX reduction, and full transparency into the performance of waste-to-energy systems. Our early traction in the industrial decarbonisation space is strong, and we’re gearing up for a pre-seed raise in late 2025.

The Problem: Organic waste is a 70-billion-tonne global issue, contributing to ~20% of GHG emissions. Biomethane is a scalable, immediately viable decarbonisation solution—but current systems are inefficient, under-digitalised, and data-poor.

The Opportunity: We’re building a SaaS platform powered by AI, Digital Twins, and Industrial IoT to help waste treatment plants and anaerobic digesters optimize operations in real time, unlock actionable insights, and scale biomethane production with confidence.

The Role: CTO / Technical Co-Founder

You'll lead tech strategy, architecture, and implementation across the platform—from AI pipelines to industrial IoT integration—while growing and mentoring a rockstar engineering team.

Responsibilities

  • Own the tech roadmap, architecture, and infrastructure strategy.
  • Lead development and scaling of our AI-driven SaaS platform.
  • Integrate SCADA/PLC systems for real-time plant optimisation.
  • Recruit, grow, and manage an engineering team.
  • Represent the company in tech, investor, and industry settings.

Must-Have Experience

  • 3+ years in technology leadership (CTO, Head of Engineering, etc.).
  • Strong background in SaaS, AI/ML, or industrial tech.
  • Skilled in cloud architecture, software engineering, and data pipelines.
  • Hands-on with AI/ML model development & deployment.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic thinking.

Bonus Skills

  • Full-stack or mobile dev background.
  • Familiarity with SCADA/PLC, Industrial IoT, or Digital Twins.
  • Prior startup or founding team experience.
  • Knowledge of UI/UX, cybersecurity, or product development.
