Job Title: Data Scientist

Location: London, Grays Inn Road

Work pattern: Full time / Permanent / Hybrid working

This is a full-time permanent position, based in our London office. We operate in a hybrid capacity and require 2 days in the office. All applicants must have the legal right to live and work permanently in the UK.

The Data Fusion Team sits within the Research and Data Sciences Department and supports global operating services with methodological development.

Within the Research Team the Data Scientist will use Python to develop new analyses and methodologies for statistical modelling of audience measurements, TGI consumer data and market research. Transforming client requests into actionable items and best modelling choices is a crucial part of this job. Attention to detail, critical thinking, and clear communication are necessary skills.

The Data Scientist position reports to the Data Science Manager within the Research & Data Science Team in Kantar. Occasionally the employee might be part of collaborations across different teams and must report to different project managers. We are currently a hybrid working team, working both in our London offices and remotely.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new and enhance existing mathematical, statistical and machine learning algorithms.
  • Investigate data for quality and completeness, identifying errors/anomalies, understanding how these would affect any modelling and controlling for these in development of such models.
  • Help to build and deliver internal and external reports and assist with proposals and project design.
  • Take the lead in data science projects, run independent project management.
  • Interact with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders as appropriate to identify product requirements.
  • Understand and contribute to our current libraries and build robust and scalable libraries.
  • Contribute to and maintain our repositories.
  • Assist our integration to cloud-based computing and storage solutions, through Databricks and Azure.

Role requirements

  • Advanced programming with Python and related data science libraries (pandas, numpy, scipy, etc) for at least 2 years, at production level.
  • Data science skills: statistical analyses, machine learning techniques. Experience in statistical matching and segmentation is a bonus.
  • Communication skills: ability to clearly communicate concepts to colleagues and potentially clients, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently; proven track record of managing projects independently.
  • Master/PhD in a highly numerate discipline (preferably mathematics and statistics).

Desirables

  • Familiar with repository-based version controls (e.g., git/Azure DevOps).
  • Experience with Azure Databricks platform.
