Responsibilities

  • To ensure the efficient running of the speciality in the absence of the Team Leader.
  • To maintain high standards of clinical care, ensuring that all actions are carried out with full regard for the safety of patients and staff involved.
  • To display strong professional leadership qualities.
  • Act as a mentor to students, including teaching and assessing within their realm of competence, upholding the philosophy of evidence-based practice.
  • To assist the Team Leader in the management of day surgery unit which includes the ward, theatres and recovery.
  • To deputise for delegated tasks as deemed appropriate by the Team Leader.

Our Day Surgery unit provides high-quality pre- and post-operative care to day case patients, with opportunities to develop valuable skills in both Theatre and Recovery. This is a fantastic chance to broaden your clinical experience in a fast‑paced, supportive environment. We're looking for someone who can hit the ground running – confident working independently while also being a strong team player.

You'll need to demonstrate excellent communication skills, remain calm under pressure, and consistently deliver care to the highest standards. Flexibility and leadership are key. We’re seeking a candidate with recent experience in general surgical or day surgery nursing, who also brings a background in managing or leading within a clinical setting. A strong commitment to ongoing professional development is essential.
