Our Day Surgery unit provides high-quality pre‑ and post‑operative care to day case patients, with opportunities to develop valuable skills in both Theatre and Recovery. This is a fantastic chance to broaden your clinical experience in a fast‑paced, supportive environment.
We're looking for someone who can hit the ground running – confident working independently while also being a strong team player. You'll need to demonstrate excellent communication skills, remain calm under pressure, and consistently deliver care to the highest standards.
Flexibility and leadership are key. We're seeking a candidate with recent experience in general surgical or day surgery nursing, who also brings a background in managing or leading within a clinical setting. A strong commitment to ongoing professional development is essential.

Main duties of the job
- Ensure the efficient running of the speciality in the absence of the Team Leader.
- Maintain high standards of clinical care, ensuring that all actions are carried out with full regard for the safety of patients and staff involved.
- Act as a mentor to students, including teaching and assessing within their realm of competence, upholding the philosophy of evidence‑based practice.
- Assist the Team Leader in the management of the day surgery unit which includes the ward, theatres and recovery.
- Deputise for delegated tasks as deemed appropriate by the Team Leader.

NMC Registered Nurse
- NMC Registered Nurse
- Significant experience at band 5 level Surgery
- In‑depth knowledge and understanding of the speciality
Education / Qualifications
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
